Financial Planning

Helping you navigate life's currents.

FINANCIAL PLANNING

This critical piece of the investment process is often misunderstood by most investors, and understandably so. Insurance companies, brokerages, and accountants all offer ‘planning’ and the definition has been mired by ‘products’ representing planning. This is not planning.

Our planning process normally involves seven points:

  1. Accurately understanding and outlining your concerns – the most important step

  2. Reiterating those concerns back to you to make sure we are on the same page

  3. Taking inventory of what you have done so far

  4. Answering some questions you might or might not have thought about

  5. Completing a comprehensive, deliverable report for you to analyze

  6. Recommended manageable next steps

  7. Adjusting the plan after we review the report together and at defined intervals in the future

Planning almost always delivers peace of mind for our clients because there is freedom and comfort gained through a holistic understanding of their financial lives and how it affects the ones they care about most.

Our Financial Plan often addresses the following topics:

NET WORTH

This includes all the moving parts of a person’s financial situation; investment accounts, real estate, other assets, and any liabilities.

ASSET ALLOCATION

It is vital to understand how your total portfolio is allocated and what you might expect for performance over time. Will it grow enough to fund your goals? Is it underperforming on a risk adjusted basis? Should it be allocated differently after retirement? These are all questions we can help you answer.

RETIREMENT & CASH FLOW

Many people have an idea of the various income sources they will have in retirement, however, most people have never seen how all the pieces work together over time. We combine your assets, Social Security, pension, income and liabilities to create cash flow projections. You will be able to visibly see what your potential taxes might be and when any shortfalls may begin.

SURVIVORSHIP

While we hope everyone can enjoy a long life together, illness and accidents happen and they can greatly affect financial outcomes. We will help you take a close look to see if there are any risks you should be aware of in the event of an untimely death.

LONGEVITY

With current medical advances, never before has the threat of a long life depleting your resources been so acute. We want you to live a long time, but inflation poses a significant threat over a long lifetime. We will analyze that as well.

OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES

Education, Disability, Long-Term Care, Business Sale, Estate Planning...There are a host of other circumstances clients face. We are able to help them navigate those goals and circumstances through the use of comprehensive, easy to understand reports.
